While ZAFT manages to escape with four of the mobile suits, Kira takes command of the Strike, the final Gundam. Yumi Tamura's manga series 7 Seeds (stylized as 7SEEDS) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by her. It's set in a post-apocalyptic future, long enough after a meteorite hits Earth for new species to emerge, and it follows the struggles of five groups of young adults to survive after being revived from cryonic preservation. The title comes from the Japanese government's requirement that five groups of people be kept in cryogenic chambers with supplies known as "seeds."
The manga began serialization in Shogakukan's Bessatsu Shjo Comic magazine in November 2001, and ended in May 2017. It was then transferred to Flowers magazine in April 2002, where it continued until May 2017. Shogakukan published 35 bound volumes containing the individual chapters. In 2007, the series was awarded the 52nd Shogakukan Manga Award for Best Shjo Manga. It has sold over 6 million copies in Japan, including digital sales.
