In the hallowed halls of the Ministry of Science, a passionate figure stands tall - Professor Ochanomizu. Alongside his dedicated comrades, he toils ceaselessly to revive a true marvel of technology: Atom - a remarkable creation with a human heart. Crafted by the enigmatic genius, Professor Umatarou Tenma, Atom was intended to replace his dearly departed son, Tobio. But Tenma mysteriously vanished, leaving his creation dormant. Yet, Ochanomizu refuses to let such a groundbreaking achievement go to waste. Though appearing as a mere child of nine years, Atom possesses not only prodigious strength and intelligence, but also an extraordinary sense of compassion and conscience that rivals that of our own species. Astro Boy: Tetsuwan Atom was a remarkable production crafted to celebrate Atom's momentous birthday on April 7, 2003, while also commemorating the 40th anniversary of its original series. Embracing the iconic art style of Osamu Tezuka, this modern remake boasts immaculate animation and introduces an array of captivating new Western characters. The anime captivated audiences in Japan through its broadcast on Fuji TV, while overseas, it enthralled viewers on Animax alongside local networks such as Kids WB in North America and YTV in Canada. Its exceptional quality earned it the prestigious 2004 Tokyo Anime Award in the Television Category. Within Japan, 13 DVD volumes were thoughtfully released between October 3, 2003, and October 1, 2004. Furthermore, four exclusive limited-edition DVD boxes were made available from December 5, 2003, to October 8, 2004.
