Argument

Nello Tarth, a joyful yet destitute orphan, resides in a humble village near Antwerp alongside his wise grandfather, Jehan. From a tender age, Nello's heart was captivated by the world of art upon beholding the masterpieces of Rubens, a renowned artist. Assisting Jehan in the daily milk deliveries to Antwerp, fate leads Nello to stumble upon Patrash, a maltreated and forsaken working dog. Demonstrating compassion, Nello tends to the weary creature, forming an unbreakable bond between them. In the neighboring Blacken Village dwells Alois Cojez, the daughter of the town's wealthiest and most influential individual. Alois stands as Nello's closest confidante, their friendship unwavering. However, when our determined protagonist sets his sights on becoming an artist, the villagers reveal their ignorance and cruelty, unleashing their scorn upon him. Particularly Alois' father, blinded by prejudice, considers Nello a lazy dreamer incapable of earning a living through his artistic endeavors. Yet, undeterred by his impoverishment, Nello remains resolute, refusing to surrender to the challenges that stand in the way of achieving his aspirations. Through perseverance, Nello strives to earn recognition, respect, and appreciation from his community, ardently combating the shackles of poverty. With unwavering determination, he embarks on a journey to prove his worth as an artist and leaves no stone unturned in his pursuit of a brighter future.
