Tooru Honda has always been fascinated by the Chinese Zodiac tale she told her beloved mother as a girl. A sudden family tragedy does change her life, however, and subsequent circumstances leave her alone. Tooru is now forced to stay in a tent but little does she realize that her temporary home remains on the revered Souma family's private property. One day she stumbles upon her home, and meets Shigure, an older cousin of Souma, and Yuki, her school's "prince." Tooru mentions that she lives nearby but finally the Soumas uncover her well-kept secret of homelessness when they see her one night walking back to her house.
After learning about her situation, things start looking up for Tooru as they kindly decide to take her in. But soon after, Yuki and his hot-tempered cousin, Kyou, are caught up in a war between her. While trying to avoid them, she discovers that the Souma family has its own well-kept secret: they turn into the animals of the Chinese Zodiac if they're embraced by a member of the opposite sex.In this latest discovery, Tooru will find that living with the Soumas is an exciting, laughter-filled adventure..

Fruits Basket ( Japanese: フルーツバスケット, Hepburn: Furūtsu Basuketto ), also abbreviated Furuba or Fruba ( フルバ ), is a manga series published and illustrated by Natsuki Takaya in Japanese shōjo.
