Tanjirou Kamado has been shouldering the responsibility of supporting his family since his father's death. The Kamado family, despite living in poverty on a remote mountain, is able to live a relatively peaceful and happy life. One day, Tanjirou decides to sell charcoal in the nearby village to supplement his income. Night falls as Tanjirou returns, forcing him to seek shelter in the home of a strange man, who warns him of flesh-eating demons lurking in the woods at night.
When he returns home the next day, he discovers a shocking sight: his entire family has been slaughtered. Worse, his sister Nezuko has been transformed into a bloodthirsty demon, leaving him as the sole survivor. Tanjirou swears to avenge his family and stick by his only remaining sibling, consumed by rage and hatred. Tanjirou will go to any length to slay the demons and protect the last vestiges of his beloved sister's humanity, working alongside the mysterious Demon Slayer Corps.
