The everlasting Oldna Poseidal governs Pentagona in the year 3990, a war-torn planetary system composed of five planets. Daba Myroad is a Yaman Clan survivor, and one of many native groups that the dictator almost wiped out. Living on the remote planet Koam with his friend Mirao Kyao, Daba possesses L-Gaim, a humanoid mecha known commonly as a "Heavy Metal" and the last known relic of the Yaman Clan. The pair befriend Fanneria Amu, an aspiring actress, and Lilith Fau, the last surviving fairy in Pentagona while on the run from a band of thieves attempting to steal L-Gaim.

Heavy Metal L-Gaimu ( 重戦機（ヘビーメタル）エルガイム, Jūsenki (Hebī Metaru ) Erugaimu, literally "Heavy Fighting Machine L-Gaim") is a mecha anime TV series, launched in 1984 and directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino.
