This version of Pinocchio tells the story of a mystical blue fairy who brings a gullible, naive, and morally confused wooden doll to life. Takatoshi Kumakura's manga series Mokke () is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by him. In August of 2000, the manga was first serialized in the Japanese seinen manga magazine Afternoon Season Zoukan. After the 14th issue, the magazine was halted, and the manga began serialization in the March 2003 issue of Monthly Afternoon magazine. Madhouse and Tezuka Productions produced an anime adaptation, which premiered on October 7, 2007 and ended on March 25, 2008.
