Code Geass: The Rebellion Lelouch ( コードギアス 反逆のルルーシュ, Kōdo Giasu: Hangyaku no Rurūshu ) is a Japanese anime series created by Sunrise, sometimes referred to simply as Code Geass. It was directed by Gorō Taniguchi and written by Ichirō quietly, with Clamp's original character designs. The series follows the exiled prince Lelouch vi Britannia, who gets the "power of absolute obedience" from a mysterious woman named C.C. Using this supernatural force, known as Geass, he is leading a revolt against the rule of the Holy Britannian Empire, directing a series of mecha battles. Code Geass was broadcast on MBS in Japan from 6 October 2006 to 29 July, 2007.
The sequel series, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 ( コードギアス 反逆のルルーシュ, Kōdo Giasu: Hangyaku no Rurūshu ), ran from 6 April 2008 to 28 September 2008 as a simulcast on MBS and TBS. The series was also adapted to various manga and light novels, with the former presenting various alternate scenarios from the TV series.Bandai Entertainment also licensed most parts of the franchise for English release in December 2007, broadcasting the two TV series on Adult Swim.
