アトム ザ・ビギニングTezuka Osamu received an ardent request from the Vatican to make the Bible into animated form through the Italian National Broadcasting Network. This request was most likely made to see how non-Christian Tezuka Osamu would depict the Bible. Tezuka Osamu agreed to the request and worked on a pilot film for two years. It was based on the Noah's ark mythology, with Tezuka Osamu not only writing the scenario but also drawing the illustrations himself. Unfortunately, he passed away during production, so Director Dezaki took over and finished the film.
