Argument

In a not-so-distant future, our beloved planet Earth is teetering on the brink of catastrophe. Global warming has wreaked havoc, causing vast expanses of water to engulf the majority of our once-familiar landscapes. Amidst this climate crisis, we encounter the resolute Maia Mizuki, a spirited teenager who has just completed her studies at a middle school like no other. However, as Maia sets her sights on a promising future, life takes an unexpected turn. Disappointingly, she finds herself falling short in the entrance exams of the prestigious Ocean Agency, the paramount paramilitary organization under our futuristic world government. To compound her misfortune, she is abruptly expelled from her dwelling, robbed of her belongings, kidnapped, and worst of all, shot! Fortune, or perhaps destiny, intervenes in the form of two enigmatic women, Rena and Shizuka, who are part of an extraordinary group known as Nereids - an innovative venture inspired by the legendary Nereids of Greek mythology. With no alternative but to cling to this glimmer of hope, Maia bravely joins the ranks of Nereids, embarking on a journey that encompasses an array of unconventional tasks; from apprehending notorious criminals to pursuing wayward feline companions. As the saga unfolds, two additional characters, Gloria and Yu, are woven into the tapestry of Nereids' venture.
