Argument
Shouya Ishida, a young elementary school student, finds himself both intrigued and unsettled by the arrival of Shouko Nishimiya, a timid girl who suffers from hearing impairment. Unfortunately, instead of embracing the opportunity for friendship and understanding, Shouya and his comrades choose to embark on a path of darkness, mercilessly subjecting Shouko to relentless torment and mockery. About
Despite winning the prestigious 80th Weekly Shounen Magazine Newbie Best Mangaka Award in 2008, the remarkable Koe no Katachi faced immense challenges in finding its place within the manga industry. The intense content was met with resistance, leading to a prolonged legal battle before it finally found solace in the February issue of Bessatsu Shounen Magazine in 2011. Remarkably, this publication went on to claim the top spot in reader questionnaires. It is intriguing to note that rather than Ooima Yoshitoki's debut masterpiece, Koe no Katachi, that honor went to the manga version of Mardock Scramble, due to the aforementioned legal disputes. Excitingly, the one-shot was given a second chance to shine when it was re-published in the 12th issue of the 2013 Weekly Shounen Magazine.
