Argument

In the pursuit of simplicity and the avoidance of unnecessary trouble, Mahiru Shirota holds firm beliefs. With a deep-rooted conviction that it is better to act than to idle and later lament, the fifteen-year-old decisively rescues a stray cat during his usual journey back home from school. Little does he know that this chance encounter with a feline named Kuro will ignite a whirlwind of extraordinary events, forever altering his mundane existence. One fateful day, upon returning to his humble abode, Mahiru is confronted with an inexplicable sight: an enigmatic young man, a complete stranger, gracing his doorstep. Overwhelmed by panic, Mahiru's reaction causes the unexpected guest to be unexpectedly exposed to sunlight and, much to his astonishment, transform into none other than Kuro! Revealing his true nature as a languid, reclusive vampire, Kuro pledges to depart once night befalls. However, as fate would have it, a series of unfortunate events compel Mahiru to unwittingly forge a bond with his newfound and freeloading companion, thrusting him into a perilous fray involving supernatural servants and bloodthirsty entities. The life that unfolds for Mahiru proves to be anything but simple, as he finds himself entangled in a battle for survival.
