About

Space☆Dandy brings together a remarkable team of talented creators, including esteemed producer Masahiko Minami and acclaimed director Shinichiro Watanabe, both renowned for their previous masterpiece, Cowboy Bebop. This captivating anime involved the collaboration of an impressive roster of over 70 animation geniuses and 20 distinguished musical artists. Interestingly, Watanabe set a unique condition for the artists, mandating that they exclusively draw inspiration from musical styles predating 1984, adding an intriguing vintage touch to the series. It is worth noting that although Yoshiyuki Itou is officially credited as the animation director and character designer, the series showcased an amazing diversity in character design as individual animators were given the freedom to express their distinct artistic styles, resulting in a visually rich and captivating world. Funimation secured the licensure of the series for North America. However, during the initial simulcast, due to certain licensing constraints, the audience was treated to the instrumental track titled Cosmic Adventure by the gifted jazz ensemble, Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro, as the opening theme. It wasn't until the eighth episode that the energetic and mesmerizing Viva Namida took the center stage as the series' unforgettable opening anthem.
