Argument
Kouhei Araki, a seasoned editor of the prestigious dictionary editorial division at Genbu Publishing, contemplates stepping down from his role to provide devoted care for his ailing wife. However, before bidding farewell to his illustrious career, Araki faces the daunting task of finding a suitable successor to complete his ambitious project: the creation of a groundbreaking lexicon called The Great Passage. His pursuit becomes an arduous one as he realizes that crafting a dictionary necessitates an abundance of patience, time, and unwavering dedication. Enter Mitsuya Majime, an unassuming employee within Genbu Publishing’s sales division, blessed with a passion for words that stems from his profound love for literature. Though his social skills and ability to gauge the atmosphere are somewhat lacking, Majime’s meticulous nature and insatiable thirst for knowledge make him a compelling candidate in Araki’s discerning eyes. Thus, Araki extends an offer to Majime to join the hallowed ranks of the dictionary editorial department.
